As reporters, we are always excited to find news in uncommon places. One such news today comes in the form of an update — from the Oxford English Dictionary. Published recently, Oxford English Dictionary has now officially added 650 words, and one of them is Satoshi.
Satoshi, as the smallest bit of bitcoin, debuts the Oxford English dictionary. The definition of Satoshi is as follows:
Satoshi, n.: The smallest monetary unit in the Bitcoin digital payment system, equal to one hundred millionth of a bitcoin. (f. Bitcoin n.at bit n.4 additions.)
In the year 2013, Oxford English Dictionary added Bitcoin, and called it a “a digital currency in which transactions can be performed without the need for a central bank.”
Among the bizarre and wacky words — like whatevs, sumfin, chillax — the addition of Bitcoin’s Satoshi calls for a celebration, as a print edition of the dictionary will be launched in December 2019.
