Crypto Valley Association Completes Inaugural Launch Event for Western Chapter; Asset Tokenization Paper Unveiled for the First Time

On December 2nd, 2019, the Crypto Valley Association (CVA) successfully completed the inaugural launch event for its Western Chapter in Lausanne, Switzerland bringing together local organizations to discuss the CVA’s new future.

Lausanne, Switzerland – The Crypto Valley Association held its first launch event for its Western Chapter on December 2, 2019, in Lausanne at the EPFL Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The event featured several panels where industry experts presented their thoughts on the current state of traditional/crypto finance and how the two industries will work together to build a more dynamic partnership in Switzerland. The panels were centered around the official release of the CVA’s “Asset Tokenization Paper.”

The event marks the first time such a conference has been held in Lausanne. It gathered together intelligence and practical experience from a wide range of organizations and education providers from universities, national agencies, small startups, and industry-backed bodies. Over 200 hundred attendees were present to take part in the panel discussions as well as a social gathering after the activities were finished.

Jérôme Bailly, Chair of the CVA – Western Chapter, said the event marked a major milestone in the continued development of the CVA and of the Swiss blockchain community:
“We are bridging the development gap taking place across Switzerland and expanding the reach of the CVA and its resources. As we look to reinforce Switzerland’s position as a leading crypto nation, the new Western Chapter of the association will play a vital role. The unveiling of the Asset Tokenization Paper cements this significant event and drives the CVA closer to its mission.”

Another main focal point of the event was the CVA’s official unveiling of its “
Asset Tokenization Paper.” The 52-page document, written “by practitioners, for practitioners” clearly outlines the tokenization process for Swiss companies while simultaneously addressing technical and legal questions relating to asset tokenization. In addition, the paper provides new guidance for those navigating the issuance of security tokens.

Spearheading the entire project was Chair of the Asset Tokenization Working Group, Florian Ducommun. Ducommun stated the purpose of the document is to “make the tokenization process easier and clearer for companies and have all the information in one easy-to-read document. Essentially we have defined the legal requirements for tokenizing each token asset class, from property to shares.”

The full document is available for free download via the CVA’s website.

Location: EPFL École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne – Polydôme (map).

Date: December 2, 2019 – 5pm to 9pm.
